Dinner Church

Dinner Church

Dinner Church is an evangelistic effort to take the gospel of Jesus into a mostly unchurched area of Warrenton, VA. In particular, our dinner church effort is located in Moffett Manor Apartments, a 55+ community in a 3-level, 100-apartment complex.

Our mission is to make disciples that will make disciples. Ultimately, we are acting out of obedience to Christ’s command in Matthew 28:18-20 to go into the world, make disciples, baptize, and teach people to obey all of Christ’s commands.

Once a month, always on Thursday, the kitchen team gathers about 3 pm and makes a delicious home-cooked meal in our WBC kitchen, then, at 5:30 pm, transports it to Moffet Manor where the setup team is already there arranging 7 dinner tables, complete with nice tablecloths, real china and flatware, and drinks. Oftentimes there are nice table decorations to make the residents feel very special and loved. We mix and mingle, then, around 6 pm, we serve and eat dinner all together. After dinner, we clean the dishes, then turn our attention to a 7- 9 minute Bible story. The evening is then turned over to our WBC table leaders who lead a table discussion directly related to the Bible story. Life application is ALWAYS a key. At about 7:30 pm, we wrap up table discussion and pray together, then dismiss everyone until next month.

Dinner Church was started when we gathered a group of about 15 go-getters that, in the summer of 2017, studied an evangelism strategy called Dinner Church that was started by a church in Seattle, Washington, and then decided to implement the plan. This group was hungry to see the Kingdom of God grow. Dinner Church seemed like a fresh and innovative way to take the gospel into an area of Warrenton that seemed in need of a regular gospel presentation. We launched our first Dinner Church in January 2018.

We average around 30-35 residents plus 10 or more WBC volunteers every month. We are sharing the whole gospel regularly and currently believe the Spirit is calling some of our residents to surrender their lives to him in repentance and belief.
