“She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.'” – John 14:6,7
The Christmas story is about more than a baby in a manger…it is about a God who provided a way for His people to return and be reconciled to their heavenly Father. He provided a way where there was no way! This is the Gospel.
The baby born in the stable and laid in the manger would grow “and become strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon Him.” (Luke 2:40). Yes, Jesus came to reveal God to us, but He also came with a purpose. He came to teach, to preach, to suffer, and to die for us…to save us.
Today, let us pause in this Advent season to meditate on the man that Jesus grew to be and what He did for us in order that we could be redeemed.
