Joy to the World! The Lord is Come
Joy to the world! the Lord is come; let earth receive her king. Let every heart prepare Him room. And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.
Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns; Let men their songs employ; while fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, and wonders of His love, and wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders of His love
– Isaac Watts
“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.” – Luke 2:10
The Christmas story is a story of Joy. We have a God who wants us to have joy! Not a superficial happiness that is dependent on circumstances, but a joy that runs deep and gives us the strength that we need for daily living. A joy that can get us through regardless of our circumstances.
This kind of joy can only be experienced in a personal relationship to our Heavenly Father. There is a joy that comes when we are close to our Creator and we know that He is watching over us and caring for us. Are you experiencing that joy this Christmas season? The Christmas story is a story of “Joy to the World” to be sure, but it is also a story of Joy to you!
