50 Day Prayer Challenge – Day 37

When I was growing up I learned early that there was power in numbers. When I had a special request of my parents I knew that I would have a much better chance of receiving it if I got my sister to go with me to show that we agreed and “both” wanted it. After all, how could mom and dad say no when their beloved children who normally fought like cats and dogs, came together in a spirit of unity and agreed about something. The challenge was getting my little sister on the same page and…it didn’t always work : )

Of course, this kind of parental manipulation does not exactly apply to our heavenly Father when we bring requests, but the Scripture does encourage us to pray together in a spirit of unity when we approach our loving Shepherd. Jesus said, “Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19). The Greek word that is used in this verse is where we get the word “symphony”. Different people, different backgrounds, different gifts coming together to sing the same song…“Oh Lord, bring us revival!”

As you come to God today asking Him to bring revival to our church and to our community and to our country I want you to know that you are not alone. Be encouraged! You are coming before the throne of grace with many of your brothers and sisters and we are praying together for the same thing like a symphony.
