Revival does not come as a result of a well thought out plan. There is no “12 step” process or a “program” to guarantee revival for your church and community. We cannot make revival happen. It is a God thing. We must go to Him and ask Him for it with our whole heart and watch for it.
The problem is that our worldly minds tend to think by worldly principles when it comes to getting things done. We strategize, organize, philosophize and, sometimes…politicize. This is all useful as we move forward with goals in the different areas of our lives but, the Scripture warns us not to become captive to it. The Apostle Paul said, “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elementary principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8).
For the believer, Christ must be central to any and everything we do. Principles and strategies are secondary. When it comes to revival we must not be caught in a worldly “checklist” that somehow twists God’s arm to act. Our pray is to come confidently before the throne of grace and ask for God’s mercy upon us and for Him to move to revive our churches, our communities and our country!
