50 Day Prayer Challenge – Day 23

When we pray for revival we are praying that God would “rend the heavens and come down” (Isaiah 64:1). We are praying for Him to intervene and make Himself known in a way that shakes the very foundations of our world. When we pray for revival we are putting ourselves out there as well. Revival is not just something that we sit back and watch…it is something that happens to us!

Today, as you pray for God to bring revival to our church, our community and our country, start with some personal house cleaning. Let us pray with David when he said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10). This is not always easy and almost never comfortable, but David reminds us later in the same Psalm that “the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Psalm 51:17).
