As we begin the third week of praying for revival in our church, community and country we must understand that there will be resistance. There is an enemy that is against the revival of the people of God. The Scriptures call this enemy Satan, the Devil, the Evil one…the Thief. Jesus said that he comes “only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10). Yes, Satan wants to rain on our parade and distract us from the task at hand. He wants to rob us of the joy that is ours through faith and he will use any means possible to keep us from the spiritual renewal that we seek. He will use circumstances, politics, finances, and even other people to distract us from this course. He is not a friendly.
It is important for us to remember two things the Scriptures tell us as we forge ahead in our prayers. First, the Bible says, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). God always prevails! The Apostle Paul said, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
Secondly, the Scripture also tells us that this struggle “is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). In other words, not other people. Even though others may not understand or support us, they are not the enemy! We are praying for the revival of God’s people but also the salvation of those still lost.
So let me encourage you to stand firm in praying for God to move in a mighty way in our church, our community and our country! Amen!
