Hello from your Ministry Council! Our top priority remains facilitating the process to call our new Sr. Pastor. The Senior Pastor Search Committee (SPSC) is in motion identifying candidates. There is no real timeline for this that we can establish, but we are hopeful for the early summer timeframe to have our new Sr. Pastor onboard. In the meantime, we hired Dee Whitten and Bryan Jones from North Star Church Network to serve as part-time interim preachers through the end of June. The MC is working with Pastor Doug and the entire staff to continue routine operations of the church. Doug is leading and managing the church staff in routine church operations and ministry until the new Sr. Pastor is onboard.
A concurrent priority remains constructing The Gathering Place at Alwington Farm. Things are moving forward, and we still expect to complete construction sometime this fall. We are working with the Town of Warrenton to finalize plans and obtain the necessary permits to begin construction very soon. Note that you may still honor Pastor Jay and Claudia with a Love Offering to The Gathering Place. Simply note in the memo block of your check that your offering is so designated for The Gathering Place in honor of Pastor Jay and Claudia.
Stop by the church office during the week and you will see some new smiling faces! Ms. Amy Simpson is now onboard as our new Financial Secretary backfilling Rebecca Jones. Many thanks to Rebecca for getting our financial processes in place to support a smoother transition and for spending extra time during the week to train Amy. Thank you, Rebecca! We also hired Ms. Lynn McNeill (who you may remember working for us previously) as a temporary backfill for Delilah Sinclair who is recovering at home following her fall. Thank you, Lynn, for helping us out until Delilah returns. Please keep Delilah in your prayers. We hope to have her back in a couple of months or so. Lastly, Mr. Otto Pebworth, our organ technician is filling in for Delilah at the organ during worship. Thank you, Otto! Other folks have stepped in to help in various ways to meet daily office needs. Whew, that’s a lot of folks stepping up to help. Thank you, Lord, for your provision of faithful servants during this time.
We are going more “digital” per our Strategic Plan. (1) As many ministries have gone paperless, WBC is now moving in that direction for several good reasons (See the Did You Know article in this Newletter). We reduced our 2019 budget for postage by $1000 to go paperless as much as possible. We reduced mailings to bare minimum and post this Newsletter, and other documents, on-line at the WBC website. We have exceptions in place to get the Newsletter to those without on-line access. (2) We also took major steps to upgrade our IT Network at church.
As a reminder, your Ministry Council members and officer positions this year are: Marco Capayachi, Cheryl Carter (Corporate Clerk), Kaity Grimley, Karen Harris (Corporate Secretary), Rebecca Hayes, Karri Mize, Laurie Schauss (Corporate Treasurer), Bill McGilvery, Phil Peyton, and Chuck Wilkers (MC Chair). We desire to keep you informed of our activities and offer you the opportunity to raise questions, concerns, and any other items you want us to address.
