Scripture Only from a Helicopter View

You’re invited to a class this fall to just learn God’s Word - it’ll be Scripture in the Raw.  We will go through Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts to get a grand overview.  You will be responsible for reading and taking notes on each chapter, then we will come together and discuss it. Did you know there are 3 ways to study God’s Word:  the 30,000’ view, the helicopter view, and the hiker view?  At 30,000’, you can’t make out anything small, but only a grand panoramic view of the landscape below, mountain peaks, valleys and oceans.  A helicopter view affords you the opportunity to see more detail, as well as the ability to stop and hover over certain sections for greater appreciation.  The “hiker view” allows you to bend down and see the tiniest of details, you can camp out in one spot and examine everything in one area. Join me this fall for a helicopter ride of a lifetime.

Gideon
By Priscilla Shirer

Gideon’s story involves far more than a wet fleece and a battle won with 300 soldiers.  His epic victory actually tells of one man’s struggle with his own weakness—and the One True God who transformed it into triumph.  So if you’ve ever struggled with insecurity or had trouble accepting your limitations, this study will help you see how God can use your weakness to unlock His strength.

Unfolded:  The Story of God
by Eric Geiger

Most of us are familiar with the great stories of Scripture – Noah’s ark, David and Goliath, Daniel in the lions’ den, and so forth.  Yet, we can go a lifetime appreciating these stories and still miss the truth that ll of them are telling the one great story of God’s redemption.  We can admire these great heroes of faith, but not understand that they all point to the greatest hero, Jesus.

  • Facilitated by Jim Raines (register at  jim_raines@comcast.net)
  • Meeting on Wednesday nights from 7:30 – 8:30 pm; begins on September 6
  • Cost: $15
  • Location:  457 Cardinal Lane, Warrenton
